Why don’t people reply to mails
Let’s say that you had access to someone’s email ID or pressed a button on a website, where they suggested that you should click to reach out to submit your query, and you did. And no one ever replied. Then you tried again. Then you wrote to someone else. And then you tried reaching out to someone on Twitter. These communications were not dumb in any way. They were appropriate, polite, genuine, and meaning to say something.
Let’s also assume that these messages had hit the intended recipient’s inbox, which in most cases, would be true. Then, what was the problem, you wonder ! Why didn’t they respond ?
Analysis shows that in most cases, the recipient has probably labelled the sender or the message as irrelevant. This is a very relative subject matter. Its not so straight-jacket or linear. There are issues of timing, reasoning, context, trust, authenticity, transparency and many such factors that morphs together to a decision that says : “irrelevant”.
The sender in this case must wear a thick all-weather jacket that cold callers always use. These should not become instances of ‘rejection’ in your life. You should learn to move on.
If it is an absolute necessity that you must make this contact, then you will have to continue the pursuit via the same route or discover alternate routes of reaching out. This will develop your skills of communication, convincing and most importantly in establishing your relevance.
A vast majority of people choose to take the blame on themselves and tend to believe that something is wrong with them or was wrong with their message. That’s not a good way to reflect. Its negative.
